DAY IN THE LIFE OF A WAITER 16:00
I start my shift by putting on my apron. My supervisors discusses the number of
covers we have reserved for the night, and the section I will be working in.
17:00
I learn the specials for that night, its pumpkin soup again. I prepare my note
pad for orders. 18:00 The first customers arrive and the supervisor
has seated them in my section. I fill up their water glasses and tell them the
specials while their drinks arrive. A few minutes later I take their food order
and tell the kitchen. 18:30 The chefs tell me their entrée
is ready, I get it and take it to them. More customers arrive and I take their
orders. 19:00 I take a break and eat dinner while someone else covers
my section. 19:30 The first customers have their desserts, so I check
everything was all right with the food. Once the finish I ask whether they would
like tea or coffee. 20:00 I present the customers will their bill.
I got a big tip. I still have other tables to look after. 21:00 I
have a 5-minute break. Then back to looking after my customers. 22:00
I finish my shift.
